The Med Tech / Caregiver assures the day-to-day care of our residents is provided in a sensitive, professional and effective manner. This position provides assistance to the residents in accordance with state and company regulations. The Med Tech / Caregiver will also participate in the Dining Program and Activity Program when working in our Memory Care Neighborhood to ensure the best quality of care is provided for all residents. Med Tech / Caregiver will be responsible for administering medication to residents and will have experience in medication administration and caregiving, as well as compassionate and patient demeanor.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer medication to patients as prescribed by healthcare professionals
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions to medication and report to healthcare professionals as necessary
- Document medication administration and patient care in accordance with facility policies and procedures
- Communicate with healthcare professionals and family members regarding patient care and medication administration
- Capable of taking accurate vital signs and weight
- Accurately completes incident reports
- Assist patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Review and participate in 24 Hour Communication Book, Daily Logs, Shift Cross-over Reports and Verbal Reports as needed
- Answer call lights in a timely manner
- Assist residents to and from scheduled programs
- Participate in resident programming when scheduled or as needed
- Promote personal choices, independence and spiritual needs
- Assist in the dining room during mealtimes including, but not limited to; set up, take meal/beverage orders, serve and bus tables
- Perform laundry duties, washing, drying, folding and returning laundry to correct resident
- Assist with cleaning and tidying of resident’s rooms
- Respond to resident emergency calls
- Dispose of all residents used hygiene care products
- Report all resident changes in condition immediately to the Supervising Nurse or Director of Nursing
- Check residents every two (2) hours or as required
- Assure that established infection control practices are maintained
- Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Supervising Nurse or Director of Nursing
- Assure the equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of each shift
- Report all burned out light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, and emergency call lights to the supervisor as soon as possible on the day they are found.
- Report all accidents and incidents as soon as possible to your supervisor, no matter how minor
- Maintain the confidentiality of residents’ personal care information
- Honor the residents’ personal and property rights
- Be knowledgeable and prepared for emergency situations including disasters, fire and other emergencies
- Maintains responsibilities for pagers, keys, and walkies while on duty and signs them in and out every shift
- Attend and participate in all mandatory in-service training
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or any management staff
