Veterinary Doctor's Assistant (Surgery)
Are you a detail-oriented, organized professional with a passion for supporting a dynamic team? VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center's Surgery Department is looking for a Full-Time Doctor's Assistant to join our dedicated team! This administrative role is vital to ensuring the smooth operation of our fast-paced surgical team—no medical procedures involved, but plenty of opportunities to make a meaningful impact. From coordinating schedules to streamlining communications, you'll be at the heart of our mission to provide exceptional care for pets and their families. Why We Need You:
As the face of VCA, the Doctor's Assistant sets the tone for the department as we build and maintain each customer's trust and confidence in our abilities. The DA is the pivot around which the department operates and is responsible for:
- Customer relations, including: greeting visitors, answering telephones, and guiding clients and their pets to exam rooms.
- Placing outbound calls for follow-ups and scheduling procedures.
- Presenting and explaining treatment plans, including processing payments.
- Managing medical records, charts, reports and correspondence.
- Filling prescriptions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least one year of proven past experience in a veterinary setting.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Compassion for pets and people—as well as awareness and understanding of others’ reactions
- Proven decision-making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action
- The ability to integrate new information into problem-solving
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with pets such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
