Position Summary
Raimondi Plumbing is hiring a plumber’s helper as a 1099 independent contractor to support licensed plumbers on new construction and other job sites. The goal of this role is simple: keep the crew moving. You will be the extra set of hands that cuts wait time, stages materials, handles prep and cleanup, and helps finish more work in a day.
This is a good fit for someone who is reliable, physically strong, and willing to learn. No plumbing license is required. Strong performers may be offered a W-2 employee role.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside licensed plumbers to keep jobs moving and reduce downtime between tasks.
- Carry, stage, and organize tools, pipe, fittings, and materials so the plumber is not waiting.
- Measure, cut, and prepare pipe and fittings under direction.
- Help with trenching, digging, backfill, and moving debris.
- Assist with rough-in work, hanging pipe, and setting fixtures as directed.
- Run for parts or supplies when needed and keep the truck and job site stocked.
- Clean up as work progresses so the site stays safe, organized, and inspection-ready.
- Load and unload the truck at the shop and on the job.
- Follow safety rules, wear required PPE, and take direction from the lead plumber.
- Learn the trade and take on more skilled tasks as you gain experience.
Required Qualifications
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work outdoors in Florida heat and humidity for a full day.
- Physical ability to lift 50–80+ lbs repeatedly, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, and stand for long periods.
- Punctual, dependable, and able to take direction without being asked twice.
- Willingness to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Basic tool familiarity and comfort on an active construction site.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a small crew.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a plumber’s helper, construction laborer, or similar trade assistant.
- Knowledge of common pipe types, fittings, and hand tools.
- Own basic hand tools (tape, level, channel locks, screwdriver set).
- Interest in becoming an apprentice or licensed plumber.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Compensation and Schedule
Competitive 1099 contract rate based on experience. Typical helper rates in the Tampa Bay area are in the high teens to low $20s per hour, with extra hours when the crew is pushing to finish a job.
This starts as a 1099 independent contractor role. The contractor is responsible for their own taxes and insurance while on 1099. Weekday hours with possible early starts, weekends, or extra hours to keep projects on schedule. Helpers who are reliable, work hard, and help the crew finish faster may be offered a W-2 position.
How to Apply
Apply on Indeed. Include your work history, whether you have reliable transportation and basic tools, and how soon you can start.
Ideal Candidate
Someone who shows up on time, works hard without being watched, and takes pride in helping the plumber finish more jobs each week. If you want to learn the trade while being useful from day one, this is the role.
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
