Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis procedures, including cleaning teeth and removing plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring accurate positioning and patient safety.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and post-procedure care to promote lasting oral health.
- Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow infection prevention protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and managing infection control measures within the clinic environment.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings preferred.
- Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and EHR management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental care.
- Skilled in chairside assisting, including handling dental equipment and performing X-ray procedures safely.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention standards, HIPAA compliance management, and medical coding practices.
