Job Title: Irrigation Technician
Reports to: Lead Irrigation Technician (LIT)
Department: Maintenance
SUMMARY:
The Irrigation Technician repairs irrigation systems as assigned by the LIT on contracted properties.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshoot and repair problems as assigned on conventional and 2-wire irrigation systems.
- Learn to program automatic controller systems to maintain water efficiency of irrigation and sprinkler systems.
- Learn how to analyze and evaluate evapotranspiration (ET) rates and weather data for the use of smart (ET) controllers.
- Notifies LIT of labor, materials, and equipment needs to complete work orders.
- Learn to read and review plan designs and specifications.
- Completes daily paperwork and submit to the LIT in a neat and timely manner, including timecards, invoices, and workorders.
- Communicates daily with the LIT about work status and needs.
- Participate in all necessary company meetings, including weekly irrigation meetings.
- Participate in any on the job training, or other training that is organized by ELCI or vendors.
- Snow removal work as assigned.
- Other duties as appropriate and assigned by the LIT.
Safety
- Collaborates with the LIT to ensure compliance to OSHA and Environmental Landworks Company, Inc.’s safety regulations.
- Ensure that all assigned vehicles and equipment are operated in a safe and proper manner and submit necessary repairs to the LIT as needed.
- Maintain a high level of good housekeeping and care of company assets: equipment, vehicles, shop, field offices, and customer work sites.
- Follow all State, Local, and Federal Motor carrier laws in compliance with hauling and transporting equipment, and materials.
- Participate in weekly safety talks.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, water conservation techniques and practices.
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance and irrigation processes.
- Knowledge of ELCI and OSHA safety regulations.
- Effective organizational skills to maintain efficiency and accuracy in all reporting.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Able to work more than 40 hours in any given work week and/or hours that are inconsistent with a 9-5 position.
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered on job sites.
- Significant local travel required; valid state driver’s license required with an appropriate driving record, as determined by the Company’s sole discretion.
- Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.
