Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Records Specialist to join our healthcare team in Savannah/GA. Duties
- Accurately organize, file, and retrieve patient medical records within electronic health record (EHR) systems and paper-based files as needed
- Ensure all medical records comply with clinical confidentiality policies and health regulation standards
- Update patient information promptly in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, including diagnoses, treatments, and billing details
- Support revenue cycle management by verifying billing codes and coordinating with billing departments
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other relevant privacy laws
- Conduct regular audits of medical records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate timely documentation and record updates during patient visits or treatments
Skills
- Strong knowledge of health regulation policies and clinical confidentiality standards
- Proven experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology and coding practices used in medical records documentation
- Excellent records management skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Understanding of revenue cycle management processes related to billing and coding
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining high levels of professionalism
