We are seeking compassionate and dependable individuals to join our hospice volunteer team and provide meaningful support to patients and families throughout Summit County and the surrounding communities. Hospice volunteers play an important role in enhancing quality of life by offering companionship, emotional support, and practical assistance.
Volunteer opportunities may include:
Providing companionship to patients through conversation, games, reading, or simply offering a comforting presence
Sending thoughtful cards and letters of encouragement
Conducting friendly check-in calls to patients and family members
Supporting bereaved families through mailings, phone calls, and grief support visits
Assisting with additional volunteer activities based on individual interests and organizational needs
This is an unpaid volunteer position.
Qualified volunteers should possess:
Availability and skills relevant to the selected volunteer activities
The ability to maintain strict confidentiality
The ability to work independently while following direction appropriately
Strong interpersonal and empathetic listening skills
Emotional maturity and the ability to compassionately support individuals experiencing hardship and loss
Volunteer scheduling is flexible and designed to accommodate individual availability.
