Accounting Clerk / Payroll Specialist (Weekly Payroll)

About Us
We are a growing HVAC company looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to take ownership of our weekly payroll process and assist with other accounting and administrative tasks. This is an accounting-focused position—not an HR role.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with numbers, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in accuracy and organization.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll accurately and on time
- Review employee timecards and verify hours worked
- Enter payroll data and maintain payroll records
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain employee payroll documentation
- Assist with accounts payable and other accounting tasks as needed
- Prepare reports for management
- Ensure compliance with payroll laws and company policies
- Work closely with management to improve payroll accuracy and efficiency
Qualifications
- Accounting, bookkeeping, or payroll experience required
- Experience processing payroll for multiple employees
- Strong understanding of payroll calculations, taxes, and deductions
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and accounting software
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred but not required)
- Experience with QuickBooks, ADP, Paychex, or similar payroll software
- Construction, HVAC, or service industry experience is a plus
