Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Estimator/Project Manager to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead project estimation efforts, manage construction projects from inception to completion, and ensure accurate cost control. The ideal candidate will bring construction industry experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with estimating software to drive successful project outcomes.
Duties
- Prepare detailed project estimates by reviewing blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications, including interpreting construction drawings and estimating material requirements from blueprints
- Utilize estimating software to develop accurate bids and proposals for commercial and residential projects
- Manage project budgets by estimating costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors while maintaining cost control throughout the project lifecycle
- Negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and pricing
- Oversee project management activities including scheduling, resource allocation, progress tracking, and ensuring projects stay within budget
- Review construction drawings thoroughly to identify potential issues early and communicate effectively with clients regarding scope changes or adjustments
- Use construction management software like Bluebeam and Microsoft Office tools to prepare reports, spreadsheets, and documentation necessary for project tracking and client communication
Requirements
- Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator with a strong background in estimating construction project budgets for commercial or residential work
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, along with construction management software tools
- Excellent blueprint reading skills and the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately
- Strong negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms
- Knowledge of cost management principles including material cost estimating, cost control, and pricing strategies
- Construction industry experience with a solid understanding of contracts, project management practices, and construction site operations
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams using clear written and verbal skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including spreadsheets for estimation analysis and reporting
