Description:
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to support the CFO in leading accounting, treasury, secured lender reporting, and financial planning as well as strengthen internal controls and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has deep experience in construction, steel, or similar project-driven industries, with a strong understanding of job costing, inventory, and operational accounting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting operations, including AP/AR, general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting.

Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning processes.

Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures.

Lead job costing, WIP analysis, margin reviews, and variance reporting.

Support operations with cost analysis for fabrication, labor, trucking, and inventory.

Oversee inventory management, cycle counts, and cost-of-goods accuracy.

Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and banking relationships.

Implement process improvements, automation, and system enhancements.

Financial modeling, scenario planning, and strategic initiatives.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance, or a closely related field. Strong analytical and financial acumen required.

10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.

CPA strongly preferred (or equivalent advanced credentials).

Experience in construction, steel, rebar fabrication, or manufacturing industries.

Expertise in job costing, WIP, inventory accounting, and project financial controls.

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial compliance requirements.

Demonstrated ability to manage accounting teams and develop staff.

Experience with QuickBooks and ERP / fabrication systems (e.g., Business Central, Soule, etc.).

Background in companies with internal trucking, fabrication, or multi-site operations.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into operational insights.
