We are seeking a seasoned General Manager to lead our Madison, WI location to continued success.
Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the overall operations, profitability, and culture of the restaurant while ensuring exceptional customer experience and team member development. This role requires strong leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to create an engaging work environment that drives results.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Execute management responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train employees following company standards
- Plan, assign, and direct work while appraising performance and providing feedback
- Managing and developing a team, including recognizing high-performance employees per company’s policies and addressing with employees underperformance or misconduct, if any.
- Address customer complaints and resolve problems in a timely and professional manner
- Shape restaurant culture and maintain high levels of employee engagement
- Coach and mentor team members to ensure job success and guest satisfaction
- Model professional behavior while creating a warm, friendly, and hospitable atmosphere
Sales & Customer Experience
- Communicate sales performance and anticipated variances to the management team
- Communicate and execute corporate programs and initiatives to staff
- Champion sales building activities and implement suggestive selling techniques
- Ensure 100% guest satisfaction through proactive service recovery
Operations & Financial Management
- Maintain efficient operations with appropriate cost controls and profit management
- Monitor daily activities to ensure quality food and cleanliness standards
- Control day-to-day operations including cash control
- Manage inventory, food and labor costs, and review financial reports
- Take appropriate corrective actions based on performance metrics
- Manage P&L including food cost, labor cost, carryout cost, and other controllable items
- Control food costs through proper recipe adherence and portion control
- Oversee weekly/monthly inventory processes
- Optimize weekly schedules for employees, managers, and supervisors
- Monitor daily schedules and sales performance to manage labor costs effectively
Facility & Safety Management
- Enforce safe work behaviors to maintain a secure environment for guests and crew
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of restaurant equipment
- Maintain facility and all company assets in excellent condition
- Comply with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
Additional Responsibilities
- Complete all other duties as assigned by corporate leadership
- Support company initiatives and maintain brand standards
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand for entire shift and walk for extended periods without rest
- Push, lift, carry, and transfer up to 50 pounds
- Reach with hands and use fine motor skills to handle objects, tools, and controls
- Bend, stoop, and access all areas of the restaurant including dining areas, kitchen, stock areas, and register stations
- Taste and smell food products for quality assurance
- Communicate verbally with team members and customers
Qualifications
Required:
- Proven experience in restaurant management, preferably in fast-casual dining
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Financial management experience with P&L responsibility
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred:
- Previous experience with franchise operations
- Experience in training and developing management teams
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
