Job Title: Youth Development Professional
Shift Hours: Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Employment Type: Part-Time
Salary Range: $18.50–$19.00 per hour
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs, including arts, STEAM, sports, leadership, and healthy lifestyles, while incorporating the core program areas of BGCA.
- Monitor and track the success of planned activities and club member engagement.
- Prepare and organize materials for each program session in advance.
- Interact with children to provide guidance, emotional support, and motivation to complete tasks.
- Maintain an organized and clean classroom environment while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Greet and scan members in and out daily to record attendance.
- Promote the Club and recruit new members by encouraging full participation.
- Participate in Club events and attend meetings as required.
- Engage with and build relationships with members and parents.
- Utilize social-emotional skills to identify and address behavioral issues, and notify the Club Director of any escalating concerns.
- Ensure a healthy and safe environment by adhering to safety protocols while supervising members in the program area.
- Monitor rooms during rotations for support needs and safety concerns.
- Report and document any club member incidents or accidents.
- Maintain a productive work environment by keeping an inventory of all program equipment and supplies in good order.
- Recommend necessary supply requisitions, subject to approval by the Club Director.
- Be aware of prospective individual donors and corporations, as well as potential foundation and grant opportunities.
- Record accurate timesheets and obtain necessary approvals daily.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience planning and implementing youth programs or activities, such as tutoring.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral challenges.
- Ability to be flexible and modify programming based on member feedback.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
- Ability to understand new concepts and ideas and implement them at the Club.
- Ability to organize and supervise club members in a safe environment.
- CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to cope with and handle high-stress situations.
- TB testing is required for this position, with initial clearance needed prior to employment and renewal certification required every four years.
- Must maintain acceptable fingerprint clearance.
