Job Summary
Farm Services in Graham is looking for a 2 cycle small engine mechanic to primarily work on outdoor power equipment. Must have proficient mechanical skills and be able to troubleshoot an array of equipment problems. You must be detail oriented and able to talk to customers well. At least 2 years experience required. We're looking for a forward thinking individual who will dedicated to the company and wants to continue to grow with us. Pay is dependent on certifications and experiences - all will be taken into consideration on the pay scale.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose issues with small engines, including lawn mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, and other outdoor power equipment using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Perform repairs on small engines, including engine overhaul, replacement of parts, electrical diagnostics, and troubleshooting mechanical systems
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug replacements, and general tune-ups
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and electrical testing devices to complete repairs efficiently
- Follow safety protocols during all manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting or equipment movement
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to accurately diagnose complex electrical and mechanical problems
- Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed and parts used for each customer’s equipment
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or service technician background specializing in small engine repair
- Strong mechanical knowledge of engines, electrical systems, and power generation equipment
- Skilled in reading schematics and technical diagrams for electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Experience repairing diesel engines as well as automotive repair knowledge is a plus
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and electrical work
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently through electrical diagnostics and mechanical inspection
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain repairs clearly and professionally
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling of large or bulky equipment
- Familiarity with Caterpillar or similar heavy machinery is advantageous but not required
- Knowledge of generator repair and small engine maintenance is highly desirable
