Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Support medication administration under supervision in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory impairments, or behavioral health needs
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care and wound management to prevent infection
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in acute care settings like ICU or emergency medicine units to deliver patient-centered care
- Document patient information precisely in EMR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks while respecting patient privacy laws
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia care, or behavioral health needs
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and infection control practices such as aseptic technique
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation
- Ability to perform phlebotomy procedures and assist in medical-surgical or post-acute care environments
- Experience providing senior care in settings like nursing homes or assisted living communities; home & community care experience is a plus
- Competence in using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and managing complex patient needs in Level I Trauma Centers or ICU units
- Strong caregiving skills with a focus on patient safety, comfort, and dignity across inpatient, outpatient, or outpatient clinics
