Summary
The San Diego Wellness Collaborative’s Neighborhood Network initiative is seeking a full-time Learning and Development Specialist. This role is essential to the organization’s commitment to a well-equipped, continuously developing workforce. The Learning & Development Specialist will serve as the primary steward of SDWC’s learning management infrastructure—building engaging course content, maintaining accessible learning resources, and ensuring that our workforce has seamless access to the tools and training they need to thrive.
The Learning & Development Specialist will report to the Director of Quality and work closely with the Manager of Quality Training and Support, program leadership, and frontline staff. This role sits at the intersection of technology, adult learning, and workforce engagement, requiring both technical proficiency and a deep understanding of the people this system serves.
The Learning & Development Specialist will contribute to SDWC’s mission to build community-clinical linkages and collaboration for optimal health outcomes and health equity, and must commit to racial equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of their work. Responsibilities
LMS Administration & Course Development
- Manage and maintain the organization’s Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring the platform is up-to-date, user-friendly, and aligned with workforce training needs.
- Design, build, and continuously improve e-learning courses and training modules for navigators, supervisors, and other internal staff.
- Organize and curate learning content to ensure easy navigation, logical sequencing, and alignment with onboarding and professional development goals.
- Serve as the organization’s primary point of contact for LMS vendor relationships, including managing updates, troubleshooting platform issues, and advocating for improvements.
- Proactively evaluate the existing LMS platform and, in partnership with leadership, lead or support the identification and implementation of a new LMS system as the organization’s needs evolve.
Resource Management
- Own and maintain SDWC’s internal workforce resource page, ensuring all links are current, content is organized, and the experience is accessible and user-friendly.
- Develop and manage a workforce-facing news website or digital communication hub, supporting the development of content, layout, and ongoing updates in collaboration with program staff and leadership.
- Partner with the Manager of Quality Training and Support to ensure resources and communications align with training priorities and organizational initiatives.
Reporting & Analytics
- Generate and analyze LMS usage and completion reports, tracking training participation, course outcomes, and workforce learning trends.
- Present data insights to the Director of Quality and relevant stakeholders to inform training priorities and improvements.
- Develop and maintain dashboards or reporting tools that provide leadership with real-time visibility into learning metrics.
- Support quality review processes by providing data on training compliance and workforce readiness.
Workforce Technical Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for workforce members experiencing access issues, login problems, or other LMS-related technical difficulties.
- Provide responsive, patient, and solution-oriented support to ensure staff can access learning resources without disruption.
- Create user guides, FAQs, and how-to resources to support LMS self-sufficiency across the workforce.
- Coordinate with internal teams to escalate unresolved technical issues to appropriate vendors or IT supports.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with trainers, facilitators, and content experts to translate subject matter into engaging, effective digital learning experiences.
- Stay current on trends in adult learning, instructional design, and LMS technology to bring innovative ideas and best practices to the team.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing a technology and learning lens to cross-functional conversations.
- Support onboarding logistics, including coordinating LMS access and orientation materials for new workforce members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work, behavioral health, public health, or related field.
- 5 years of progressive experience in a non-profit service environment.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with demonstrated experience implementing new programs, trainings, or workforce initiatives.
- Practical knowledge of the effects of trauma, social injustice, and persistent poverty, as well as experience working with people from diverse ethnic, social, and cultural backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong organizational abilities and the capacity to influence and motivate others.
- Strong project management skills, with experience managing timelines and delivering results in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively, build lasting relationships, and lead through influence.
- Must be an effective change agent, capable of supporting and guiding others toward organizational improvement.
Salary / Benefits
This is an exempt full-time position. SDWC offers a comprehensive benefits package (i.e.
