Job Summary
Hollis Montessori School is seeking an exceptional, adaptable, compassionate, and collaborative Learning Specialist to support students with developmental and special educational needs. We are an independent, non-profit school located in southern New Hampshire, serving students from age 3-15. The school follows a school year schedule.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing and implementing specialized programming to meet the physical, emotional and educational development for students with special needs.
Individualized Student Support
- Design Student Plans: Create and implement customized learning and behavior plans
- Targeted Instruction: Deliver specialized one-on-one or small-group instruction using both push-in (inside the prepared environment) and pull-out methods.
- Accommodations: Provide scaffolding for executive functioning, sensory processing, and social-emotional development.
Collaboration & Consultation
- Team with Guides: Consult regularly with Lead Montessori Guides to help them differentiate daily lessons and manage classroom dynamics.
- Partner with Families: Maintain open, empathetic communication with parents regarding student progress, strategies, and home-school alignment.
- Coordinate Therapists: Act as the school’s primary liaison for external speech, occupational, and behavioral therapists.
Observation & Documentation
- Montessori Observation: Utilize objective observation techniques to track student engagement, choices, and developmental milestones.
- Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed, confidential qualitative and quantitative records of student growth and interventions.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a closely related field.
- Montessori Alignment: Strong understanding of, or deep respect for, Montessori principles
- Span of Experience: Experience working with children across multiple developmental stages, from early childhood (age 3) through early adolescence (age 15).
- Diverse Skillset: Demonstrated ability to support students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and executive dysfunction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Montessori Certification: MACTE-accredited credential (AMI, AMS, or equivalent) at any level is highly preferred.
