The Nurse Academy is hiring an Adjunct Faculty member to teach N 370 – Concepts in Scholarly Writing for the first cohort of our residential RN-to-BSN Completion Program in National City, CA.
This is a fixed-term, four-week teaching assignment for Fall 2026 and is not an ongoing position. Renewal or additional courses depend on program enrollment and scheduling. N 370 is the opening class in the program and focuses on upper-level academic writing, APA 7th edition, and scholarly source evaluation in an interactive, workshop-style evening format. Over the four weeks, students critique peer-reviewed nursing literature, develop a formal scholarly paper, complete peer review, and build a professional e-portfolio.

- Hours: 8 sessions / 48 contact hours
Compensation
- Flat stipend of $3,000 for the course
- Covers instruction, preparation, grading, writing conferences, and office hours
- Paid as a temporary part-time W-2 employee
- Responsibilities
- Teach eight 6-hour evening sessions using a program-provided syllabus, instructor plan, and worksheets
- Instruct APA 7th edition and scholarly source evaluation
- Facilitate in-class drafting, peer review, and one-on-one writing conferences
- Provide rubric-based feedback and hold office hours
- Maintain attendance and grade records
- Submit final grades on schedule
Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution
- At least 15 graduate semester credit hours (or equivalent) in scholarly writing, composition, rhetoric, or a closely related writing discipline
- Demonstrated APA 7th edition proficiency and experience evaluating peer-reviewed literature
- Prior college-level teaching or structured adult-education experience
- Comfort teaching in an evening/workshop format using a learning-management system such as Google Classroom
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate or terminal nursing preparation (MSN, DNP, PhD, EdD), or CNE with documented graduate writing/scholarship coursework
- Experience teaching RN-to-BSN or other post-licensure nursing students
- Scholarly writing, publication, or professional dissemination experience
