Jr Estimator/Civil Engineer for Utility and Bridge work (Public and Private agencies)
- Prepare site work/ utility - heavy civil estimates thoroughly in a timely manner including takeoff, solicitation with proper backup and supplementary information by using HCSS estimating software for site and utility type projects.
- Read and review all bid RFQ and RFP documentation to have a thorough understanding of the project.
- Research construction documents and analyze specifications.
- Perform detailed takeoffs.
- Solicitation, coordinating with subs and suppliers for their quotations.
- Analyze and evaluate sub/vendor quotes/offers.
- Enter and finalize quotations in the estimate for bid submission.
- Ensure relevant documents and budgets are submitted before bid deadline.
- Visit project sites necessary to do the estimate.
- Solicit bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers. Creates listings of appropriate contacts for specific projects.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposal for submittal.
- Attend Owner meetings during estimate development.
- Minimum Overall 1-3 years (field and estimating) work experience in heavy civil construction. It is highly desired that this candidate possesses firsthand heavy civil field operations experience in site work, utility, and heavy civil area.
- Experience in estimating or desire to work for a General Contractor (GC) in variety of utility/ site, bridge work estimates.
- Preferred experience and familiar with NYSDOT, NYCDDC, NYCDEP specifications, contracts for site and utility projects.
- Local and able to commute to Brooklyn, NY daily.
- Estimating experience on public works projects in New York and New Jersey is desirable.
- BS degree in civil engineering or construction management or related.
- Have desire to grow in the estimating department.
- HCSS estimating software or willing to learn it rapidly, knowledge of creating schedules in P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to thrive under pressure.
