Position Summary
L & K Auto & Truck Service LLC is looking for a dependable, motivated Mid-Level Light & Heavy Duty Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate should have experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining both light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles.
This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and inspections on cars, trucks, trailers, and commercial equipment. The technician should be comfortable working independently while also being able to work as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine service on light- and heavy-duty vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems.
- Perform brake, steering, suspension, and drivetrain repairs.
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, cooling, fuel, and emissions systems.
- Perform electrical diagnostics using scan tools and other diagnostic equipment.
- Perform oil changes, fluid services, belt and hose replacement, and other maintenance services.
- Mount, balance, repair, and replace tires as needed.
- Perform DOT inspections and vehicle safety inspections when qualified.
- Diagnose and repair trailers and commercial equipment.
- Perform roadside and on-site repairs when needed.
- Accurately document inspections, diagnostic findings, repairs, and parts used.
- Follow manufacturer repair procedures and company safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate repair findings and recommendations with service advisors and management.
- Assist other technicians when needed.
- Properly use and maintain shop tools and equipment.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of automotive and/or heavy-duty repair experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.
- Experience working on both light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles preferred.
- Ability to use automotive/heavy-duty scan tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Basic electrical diagnostic knowledge.
- Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and service information.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and handle automotive and heavy-duty components.
- Must provide your own basic hand tools.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

- Gas and diesel engines
- Class 2–8 trucks
- Box trucks
- Medium-duty trucks
- Semi-trucks and trailers
- Brake systems
- Suspension and steering systems
- HVAC systems
- Preventative maintenance
- DOT inspections
- Roadside repairs

Physical Requirements

- Ability to safely operate shop equipment and tools.
