Position:
Pump Mechanic
Our company:
Atlas Pump Repair has been troubleshooting, repairing, and installing commercial water pumps in the NY Metro area for over 60 years. We specialize in domestic cold water pumps, hot water pumps, heat pumps, condensate pumps, sump pumps, sewage ejectors, exhaust fans among others, as well as the controls for them including magnetic line starters, disconnect switches, circuit breakers, pressure switches, alternators, and VFDS.
We are open Monday-Friday 8 AM - 5 PM. Overtime is compensated 1.5x hourly salary (mostly in the winter time, our busy season).
How it works:
A building will call us when one of their pumps isn’t working, noisy, leaking, or not creating enough pressure. Our technicians are then dispatched to diagnose the problem. If it is an electric issue that can be fixed on the spot, the technician will be responsible to make that repair. If the pump is noisy or leaking and needs to be serviced, the technician will remove the pump from the building, bring it to our shop where necessary repairs will be made by our shop staff, and then the technician will reinstall it.
Responsibilities/Role Requirments:
-must have clean drivers license
-must be able to communicate in English necessary repairs
-must be able to work in a team environment
-basic knowledge of different water systems in commercial buildings (cold water, pressure, hot water, heat, ground water, sewage)
-electric knowledge to troubleshoot panels and find solutions to get back in normal operation using different electric reading instruments
-ability to replace magnetic line starters, pressure switches, float switches, VFDs
-identify proper valves to close to remove pump for service
-assist helper in removal of pump from building to the shop
-soldering, pipe bending may be needed from time to time
-operate power tools
-mechanical skills to remove and install pumps
-Install, maintain, and enhance electrical systems and components, including magnetic line starters, pressure switches, fuses, Variable Frequency Drives, and wiring
-Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with electrical systems, motors, pumps, and components
-Perform all work in a manner that meets and follows electrical codes, blueprints, and standards
-Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning
-Complete required documentation of repairs and service information
-Calibrate equipment to provided specifications
-Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components
-Troubleshoot problems and make timely repairs

Salary: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
