The QC Virology Technician I will ensure in-process materials and final product are tested in a manner consistent with Standard Operating Procedures and in compliance with regulations according to 9CFR.
Responsibilities and Key Duties:
- Conduct titrations, inactivation assurance, identity, and extraneous agent testing for in-process materials and final product
- Conduct testing described above in tissue culture or chicken embryos
- Preparing media and reagents for testing
- Perform mathematical calculations by using Reed-Muench method
- Performed tasks using aseptic technique to avoid contamination
- Document results concurrently and legible when performed
- Report any Out of Specification results
- Routine lab maintenance and cleaning
- Assure QC records are accurate, and compliant
- All other duties as assigned

Technical / Functional Competencies:
- Basic knowledge of Virology
- Must have demonstrable aseptic technique
- Basic skills with databases and word processing programs
- Education - bachelor’s degree in microbiology, Veterinary Science or equivalent; 4+ years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Work Experience – 1+ years in Quality Control or relevant lab experience strongly preferred
- Ability to perform repetitive motions and stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
- Position located at the Biomune Lenexa campus in the quality control laboratory
- Required to work with hazardous materials in a safe, controlled environment
