Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Janitor to join our facilities maintenance team. The Janitor will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across various commercial and residential properties. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and proficiency in using cleaning equipment and chemicals. The ideal candidate will contribute significantly to the overall cleanliness and sanitation standards of our facilities, ensuring a positive experience for all occupants and visitors.
Duties
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal to uphold cleanliness standards.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners efficiently and safely.
- Handle chemical agents with strict adherence to safety procedures to ensure proper sanitation without risk.
- Conduct heavy lifting tasks following safe lifting practices when moving furniture, supplies, or equipment.
- Maintain floors through buffing, polishing, and proper care to preserve their appearance and safety.
- Restock cleaning supplies and ensure all custodial tools are maintained in good working condition.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as residential painting or basic repairs as needed.
- Follow safety protocols consistently to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Collaborate with facilities management team to report maintenance issues or hazards promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing requests professionally and courteously.
Qualifications
- Proven janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or residential settings.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, and custodial equipment operation.
- Experience handling chemical agents safely and understanding chemical handling safety procedures.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting while maintaining safety practices.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Prior experience with industrial cleaning, floor care, buffing, or facilities maintenance is preferred.
- Good communication skills for effective interaction with team members and building occupants.
