Supervision:Director of Finance and Operations
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
- Accurate and timely processing of payroll for all district employees (salaried, hourly, and substitutes)
- Data entry for hours worked, salary adjustments, stipends, overtime, and retroactive payments
- Management of payroll deductions, tax withholdings, and garnishments
- Coordinate payroll input of new hires
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensuring compliance with Massachusetts wage and hour laws, federal regulations, and collective bargaining agreements
- Preparation and submission of retirement reports to MTRS (Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System)
- Support for internal and external audits by preparing documentation.
- Processing 403(b) contributions and W2 distribution
Leave & Benefits Management:
- Maintaining and reconciling leave balances, including FMLA, sick, personal, and vacation time
- Collaborating with HR on benefits administration and open enrollment
Employee Support:
- Serving as the primary contact for employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, and direct deposit
- Processing employment and wage verifications
Recommended Minimum Qualifications
- Experience:
- 3–5 years of payroll experience, strongly preferred in a Massachusetts public school or municipal setting
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Understanding of accounting principles and basic mathematical calculations
- Core Competencies:
- High level of discretion and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Extreme attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment
Work Environment
- Standard office setting involving prolonged periods of sitting and computer work
- Must be able to handle a high volume of data and frequent interruptions
- Occasional requirement to work beyond regular school hours to complete necessary tasks
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
