MECOTEC is a leading manufacturer and provider of electric cryotherapy and cold therapy systems. We provide advanced cryotherapy equipment to medical, wellness, recovery, fitness, and professional sports facilities throughout the United States.
We are looking for a dependable, mechanically skilled HVAC/Refrigeration Service Technician to join our U.S. service team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working with complex equipment, traveling, and solving problems in the field.
Position Overview
The Traveling HVAC/Refrigeration Service Technician will be responsible for installing, servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing MECOTEC cryotherapy equipment at customer locations throughout the United States.
Our systems incorporate commercial refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, glycol cooling, control, and ventilation components. Previous experience specifically with cryotherapy equipment is not required. Training on MECOTEC systems and equipment will be provided.
The ideal candidate will have a strong HVAC or refrigeration background, be comfortable troubleshooting equipment independently, and be willing and able to travel frequently.
Responsibilities
- Travel throughout the United States to customer locations for service calls, installations, preventative maintenance, and equipment repairs.
- Diagnose and repair refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and control-system issues.
- Troubleshoot compressors, fans, motors, pumps, sensors, valves, electrical components, and related equipment.
- Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, leak detection, and other refrigeration service procedures.
- Install and commission new MECOTEC cryotherapy systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
- Assist with relocation, removal, and reinstallation of cryotherapy systems when required.
- Read and understand electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
- Communicate with MECOTEC technical support when diagnosing complex equipment issues.
- Clearly communicate service findings and repair recommendations to customers and MECOTEC management.
- Complete service reports, document repairs, and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Maintain company tools, service equipment, and replacement parts.
- Represent MECOTEC professionally while working at customer facilities.
Qualifications
- HVAC and/or commercial refrigeration experience required.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with compressors, refrigeration circuits, motors, fans, pumps, controls, and electrical components preferred.
- EPA Section 608 certification strongly preferred.
- Ability to use HVAC/refrigeration diagnostic tools, gauges, vacuum pumps, recovery equipment, multimeters, and standard hand and power tools.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical schematics.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.
- Ability to travel by air and rental vehicle and stay overnight for multiple days when necessary.
- Must be comfortable working independently while traveling.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Professional communication and customer-service skills.
- Dependable, organized, and able to manage service calls with limited supervision.
- Ability to safely lift and move tools, parts, and equipment associated with field service work.
Travel Requirements
This is a travel-intensive position. Candidates should expect frequent overnight travel throughout the United States. Some service calls and installations may require multiple consecutive days away from home.
Travel may include flights, rental vehicles, hotels, and driving to customer locations. Candidates must be comfortable with a work schedule that can change depending on customer and service needs.
When not traveling, the technician may perform work from MECOTEC's New Braunfels, Texas facility, including equipment preparation, testing, maintenance, repairs, inventory, and technical training.

Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who doesn't want to spend every day working on the same type of HVAC equipment or traveling the same local service route.
The right candidate enjoys traveling, troubleshooting, working with their hands, and figuring out complex mechanical and refrigeration problems. You should be comfortable arriving at a customer location, diagnosing an issue, communicating with our technical team when needed, and taking ownership of getting the equipment back into proper operating condition.
Experience with cryotherapy equipment is not necessary—we can teach you our equipment. We're looking for someone who already has a strong foundation in HVAC/refrigeration, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and field service and is ready to learn MECOTEC technology.
