Job Summary
In this role, you'll apply your SolidWorks and mechanical design expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input.
No prior experience in AI is required—your expertise in parametric CAD modeling and mechanical engineering is what matters most.
You'll contribute to the development of AI systems by creating, reviewing, and validating complex CAD models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation while ensuring adherence to industry standards and manufacturability best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Create fully parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies based on written briefs, focusing on robust feature trees and precise constraints.
- Edit and update existing parametric models to meet new technical requirements while maintaining complete documentation of all changes.
- Audit and review CAD models for dimensional accuracy, proper tolerance application, and manufacturability across multiple manufacturing processes.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles throughout modeling tasks, including injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and casting/forging.
- Translate engineering design intent into clear, structured CAD data suitable for AI model training.
- Communicate technical findings and project updates through clear written documentation and verbal collaboration with project stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on parametric CAD experience for editing tasks; 10+ years preferred for creating complex assemblies.
- Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks; experience with FreeCAD, Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, or similar CAD platforms is highly valued.
- Practical experience applying GD&T principles using ASME Y14.5 or equivalent standards.
- Experience supporting at least two manufacturing processes, including injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, or casting/forging.
- Current hands-on experience with mechanical or industrial CAD modeling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent technical documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with reverse engineering workflows such as scan-to-CAD or point cloud conversion.
- Experience designing and managing complex mechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with CAD automation using Python, iLogic, VBA, or similar scripting tools.
- Experience improving engineering workflows through automation or AI-assisted CAD tools.
