Job Summary
Saint Aloysius Parish School is seeking a dedicated, forward-thinking Middle School Teacher for Grades 5-8. The ideal candidate will cultivate an engaging, academically rigorous, and supportive classroom environment tailored to the developmental needs of young adolescents. This educator will challenge students to think critically, communicate effectively, and leverage technology, all while serving as an authentic witness to the Catholic faith. Positions may include teaching a single specialization or a combination of core subjects based on candidate qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Faith Formation: Integrate Catholic teachings, prayers, and values into everyday instruction and classroom culture.
- Instructional Delivery: Plan and deliver student-centered lessons aligned with archdiocesan curriculum standards that transition students from concrete learning to abstract, critical thinking. Assess and evaluate student performance regularly, providing constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes. Utilize learning technology to enhance instructional delivery and student engagement.
- Differentiated Learning: Use formative and summative assessment data to target instruction, offering both academic support and enrichment.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a structured, respectful, and joyful environment suited for middle school dynamics using positive behavior strategies. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant documentation.
- Communication & Collaboration: Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress and behavioral issues.
- Supervisory Duties: Maintain an active leadership presence during school-wide transition times, including hall monitoring, lunch/recess, and dismissal.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Middle Level Education, Secondary Education, or a specific content area.
- Certification: Valid state reaching certification, preferred.
- Faith & Ministry: Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church to teach religion.
- Clearances: Must successfully pass all state-mandated criminal history and child abuse background checks.
- Safe Environment Training: Compliance with archdiocesan child protection training (e.g., Virtus "Protecting God's Children") required by start date.
- Skills: Proficiency with middle school learning technologies (e.g., Google Classroom, smartboards, Chromebook management, digital grading portals) and excellent interpersonal communication.
- Subject Matter Competency: Candidates must be skilled in executing targeted strategies across one or more of the following instructional focus areas: ELA, Social Studies, Mathematics, Religion
