Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Hotel Chief Engineer to lead our engineering and maintenance operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the management of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and industrial systems within the hotel, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards. Duties
- Manage and supervise facilities maintenance teams responsible for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and industrial systems.
- Oversee the repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of HVAC systems using schematics and technical manuals; ensure HVAC system repair is performed efficiently to maintain optimal climate control.
- Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to schedule preventive maintenance, track work orders, and manage inventory for mechanical systems.
- Conduct engineering troubleshooting for complex mechanical and electrical issues; utilize tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters to diagnose faults in low voltage and high voltage systems.
- Develop and enforce safety regulations related to electrical work (including high voltage), plumbing system maintenance, industrial maintenance procedures, and general facilities management.
- Review schematics and technical drawings for system upgrades or repairs; coordinate projects involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automation tasks.
- Ensure compliance with local safety standards and regulations; lead safety training sessions for maintenance staff.
- Manage facilities management projects from planning through execution; oversee contractors and vendors to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and safety checks; generate reports for management review.
- Lead initiatives to improve energy efficiency, sustainability practices, and overall infrastructure reliability within the hotel.
Requirements
- Proven management experience supervising facilities maintenance teams in a hospitality or manufacturing environment.
- Extensive mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in mechanical systems repair including HVAC, plumbing, electrical wiring (low voltage/high voltage), and industrial equipment.
- Strong understanding of schematics, technical manuals, CMMS software, and engineering troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics reading, and automation systems integration.
- Ability to perform HVAC system repair efficiently using appropriate tools such as ohmmeters; experience with HVAC system diagnostics is essential.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to electrical work (including high voltage), plumbing systems, manufacturing processes, and general facilities management.
- Excellent leadership skills with experience managing facilities maintenance teams; capable of motivating staff while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
- Effective project management skills from planning through execution; ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Fluency in English required for communication with team members, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills combined with a proactive approach to preventative maintenance strategies.
