River Room is a unique, multipurpose event space located on the North Branch of the Chicago River in Chicago’s North Center Neighborhood. We are a community oriented, fully customizable venue specializing in weddings, private and corporate functions, live events, gallery events, photo or video shoots, conferences, vendor fairs, markets, nonprofit events and fundraisers.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a hybrid Event Bartender/Event Lead who is looking for a unique opportunity to join a growing team. The role will assist the Operations & Events Manager by running events as needed and assisting with logistics and setups for events + event bartending shifts. Looking for an employee who is eager to learn and willing to take initiative!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Including but not limited to:
- Attend staff meetings as necessary
- Arrange cleaning of the space as necessary
- Empty trash bins as needed
- Receive deliveries and pickups
- Assist with landing and installing decor
- Attend final walk throughs and beer tastings with clients
- Running and troubleshooting AV
- Review and be responsible for MOD checklist per event. Execute furniture movement and set up
- Be able to implement floor plans and any décor details for events
- Track liquor and bar supplies and report inventory information back to MOD
- Make sure bar is fully stocked for each event
- Oversee, set up, and breakdown of the bar
- Manage POS and make sure it is working properly before each event starts
- Willing and able to barback/buss and/or bartend for smaller events
- Management – Supervise bartenders/bussers on the day of the event.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers.
- Illinois Basset Certification (can be done after hiring)
- One or more years experience in hospitality or service industry
- Experience in wedding/event industry -preferred
- Personal vehicle - preferred

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical requirements listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and key responsibilities of this position. Work conditions in certain areas of the bar/brewery can be hot, cold, wet, slippery and/or noisy. Frequent walking, including climbing up and down stairs are required. Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, lift, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl, pull, push, carry, grasp, reach and stoop as needed, sometimes for extended periods, and to occasionally lift and carry heavy items up to 40+ pounds (may be aided).
