American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a NICU position at a Level 1 trauma, nationally ranked children's hospital in San Diego, CA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience and a CA RN license.

NICU setting within a 60-bed unit at a Magnet-recognized, Level 1 trauma, nationally ranked academic teaching children's hospital

Patient population includes critically ill neonates requiring advanced respiratory support, surgical care, and complex line management
-
Experience required with oscillators, conventional ventilators, CPAP, nasal cannula specialty gases, PICC lines, Broviacs, UAC/UVC/PAL lines, trachs, ostomies, and G-tubes

Comfort with line changes involving multiple drips and pre/post-op care is required
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)

Weekend availability required with full scheduling flexibility (no fixed weekend requirement)

Floating required within scope to other units including PICU and CVICU, as well as NICU satellite campuses

Charting via Epic
-
No on-call responsibilities

Active CA RN license required; pending license considered if an ETA for posting is available

Current BLS and Advanced NRP certifications required; PALS preferred

Minimum 2 years of recent Level 4 NICU experience required
-
Level 3 NICU experience considered only if the candidate has strong surgical experience from a Level 3 NICU that performs surgeries on newborns

Cardiac experience required

Must have reliable personal transportation for floating to satellite campuses

2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

First-time travelers with Level 4 NICU experience are welcome to apply

Maximum of 6 days of requested time off (RTO) for the duration of the contract

All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of application

Mileage is reimbursed when floating from the home base NICU to any satellite campus location
