Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and updating records
- Assist with pretesting such as auto refraction, fundus photos, OCT, corneal topography, and IOP to support accurate diagnoses
- Support optometrists during eye exams by handling optical equipment and providing patient education on procedures and products
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Crystal or similar platforms to document patient information accurately and securely
- Perform administrative duties at the front desk, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and managing patient flow
- Support retail sales of eyewear and contact lenses by providing knowledgeable recommendations based on patient needs and retail math principles
Requirements
- Prior experience in medical office settings, ophthalmology clinics, or optical practices is highly preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Crystal or other healthcare software platforms for documentation purposes
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with patients across diverse age groups, including pediatrics
- Retail sales experience combined with a passion for customer service to enhance patient satisfaction and product recommendations
