This role focuses on fostering a vibrant learning environment for children aged 1-2 years old utilizing a curriculum that encourages independence and discovery.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Implementation: Create and lead daily classroom activities based on the HighScope curriculum, ensuring a balance of child-initiated and teacher-guided learning.
Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, nurturing, and organized environment that meets state licensing and accreditation standards.
Assessment & Observation: Monitor and document child development through regular observations and assessments to tailor instruction to individual needs.
Family Engagement: Build strong, professional relationships with families through regular communication, conferences, and progress updates.
Mentorship: Lead and collaborate with assistant teachers to ensure cohesive classroom operations.
Qualifications
Certification: Valid CDA (Child Development Associate), Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Experience: Proven track record of success in a licensed preschool or early learning setting.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of HighScope principles (Plan-Do-Review, Key Developmental Indicators) is highly preferred.
Compliance: Ability to pass all required background checks and meet health requirements for childcare providers in Indiana.
Soft Skills: High energy, patience, and a genuine love for supporting the growth of young learners.
