Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Support with medication administration following proper protocols and documentation procedures
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure residents’ health stability
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, implementing memory care strategies
- Operate manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts safely to assist with transfers and mobility needs
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks and adhering to infection control standards
- Document resident progress and incidents accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support to promote well-being and social interaction
- Support residents’ participation in community outings or transportation needs, including driving when qualified
Experience
- Previous assisted living or long-term care experience preferred, especially in nursing homes or retirement communities
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral management needs
- Knowledge of dementia care techniques, memory care strategies, and Alzheimer’s support practices
- Hands-on experience with vital signs measurement, medication administration, and emergency response procedures such as CPR and first aid
- Experience operating EMR systems for accurate documentation and record keeping
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and use of assistive devices like Hoyer lifts
- Background in home & community care or group home settings is highly valued
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
