Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following strict aseptic techniques to ensure infection control.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, prosthodontics, and endodontics with chairside support.
- Take and develop X-ray images using digital radiography equipment while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, including updating medical documentation and coding.
- Measure vital signs and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, especially in pediatric dentistry cases.
- Provide excellent dental receptionist support by scheduling appointments, confirming patient information, and managing medical records efficiently.
- Support the use of advanced technology like 3D scanners for precise dental imaging and treatment planning.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while following infection control protocols aligned with OSHA standards.
- Assist with medical documentation related to dental procedures and ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Collaborate seamlessly with team members in four-handed dentistry to optimize workflow and patient experience.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with children is highly desirable.
- Certification in radiography or X-ray technology required; additional certifications in medical coding or pediatrics are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages and backgrounds.
