Summary:
The Infection Preventionist Nurse (RN or LPN) leads infection prevention and control efforts to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Implement and manage infection prevention and control programs
Conduct infection surveillance and track trends
Investigate and manage outbreaks
Educate staff on infection control practices
Perform audits (hand hygiene, PPE, isolation, cleaning)
Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and state regulations
Collaborate with clinical and leadership teams
Prepare reports for surveys and regulatory agencies
Qualifications:
Active RN or LPN license
Minimum 2 years nursing experience (infection control or long‑term care preferred)
CIC certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Strong communication and organizational skills
