Overview
Peak Dermatology is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Dermatology Medical Assistant to join our growing team. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working closely with providers, and is passionate about delivering an exceptional patient experience.
The ideal candidate will have prior medical assistant experience, with dermatology experience strongly preferred. However, we are willing to train an exceptional Medical Assistant or recent graduate who is eager to build a career in dermatology.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms while preparing them for their visit.
- Obtain and accurately document patient histories, medications, allergies, and chief complaints in the electronic medical record.
- Scribe patient encounters for the physician or advanced practice provider.
- Assist with dermatologic procedures including biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, suture removals, and cosmetic procedures.
- Prepare, label, and process pathology and laboratory specimens according to office protocols.
- Communicate pathology and laboratory results to patients under provider direction and coordinate follow-up appointments.
- Educate patients on wound care and post-procedure instructions.
- Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms and procedure areas.
- Clean, sterilize, and autoclave instruments following infection control guidelines.
- Monitor clinical supplies and assist with inventory management.
- Support providers and teammates to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Perform other clinical duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in a physician office or outpatient clinic.
- Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR/EHR).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
Preferred
- Dermatology Medical Assistant experience strongly preferred.
- Experience assisting with biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, suture removals, and cosmetic procedures.
- Knowledge of pathology specimen handling and laboratory protocols.
- Experience with Modernizing Medicine (ModMed EMA) or another dermatology EMR.
- Medical Assistant certification.
- Current BLS certification.
