Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately, including sterile IV infusions, following strict aseptic techniques and safety protocols
- Assist pharmacists with medication intake, verification, and inventory management to ensure timely availability of pharmaceuticals
- Support patient service initiatives by providing clear medication information and answering medication-related questions
- Maintain precise documentation of medication administration, patient records, and pharmacy logs in accordance with hospital policies
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate medication delivery and ensure proper patient care procedures are followed
- Uphold high standards of medical terminology comprehension to accurately interpret prescriptions and clinical notes
- Follow all hospital protocols for aseptic technique during medication preparation to prevent contamination or infection risks
Qualifications
- Prior pharmacy technician experience with a focus on LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy or hospital settings is highly preferred
- Demonstrated critical care experience, including handling complex medication regimens in acute or ICU environments
- Strong patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care and communication
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to pharmacy operations and clinical documentation
- Experience with IV infusion preparation, medication administration, and aseptic techniques in sterile environments
- Familiarity with hospital procedures related to intake processes and medication safety protocols
- Certification as a pharmacy technician or equivalent credential is required; ongoing education in pharmacy practice is a plus
