The Camp Nurse delivers health care and first aid to campers and staff in a residential camp setting while managing health records and overseeing overall well-being. Essential Functions:

Provide health care and first aid services to campers and staff in a safe manner, following:
- Licensing standards

American Camping Association (ACA) guidelines, where applicable
- Respond quickly and effectively to accidents and incidents

Prepare and submit Accident and Incident Reports accurately and in a timely manner

Assist other camp staff in health care and first aid services, ensuring ACA guidelines are upheld

Train and supervise staff administering medication in the nurse’s absence according to state regulations

Prepare and deliver staff training on health care and first aid procedures and policies

Organize and maintain:
- Health care logbook
-
Medication administration logbook
-
Camper and staff health records in compliance with state regulations
- Inform camp registrar of missing, incomplete, or insufficient health records and assist in obtaining them

Compile medical forms for campers and staff leaving camp for field trips

Ensure coverage of the infirmary, including camper stays in the ward or isolation room

Consult and obtain permission for any health care practices outside standing orders

Communicate special needs or precautions regarding specific campers to relevant staff each session

Order and maintain necessary health and first aid equipment and supplies

Maintain adequate inventory of medical and first aid supplies; notify senior program director in advance if additional supplies are needed

Ensure all medical supplies and medications are stored securely according to state regulations

Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings

Must be 21 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Current certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer and American Red Cross First Aid

1+ year of experience working with youth and teens

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), Paramedic, EMT, Physician Assistant, or Physician

1+ year of experience providing pediatric nursing care preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of developmental stages and ability to apply it to routine and emergency care for campers and staff

Strong organizational skills to maintain records and supplies in an accessible and orderly manner

Must complete new employee trainings and department onboarding
