GENERAL PURPOSE / SUMMARY STATEMENT
Bridgely is seeking a proactive and growth-minded Junior Software Engineer to elevate the Bridgely platform technical capabilities. This role builds Bridgely features, participates in product planning, and collaborates with external development contractors – vetting all builds through Bridgely’s Six Pillars. Leveraging modern AI-assisted coding tools, the Junior Software Engineer will own the delivery of low-hanging fruit features from product requirements documents (PRDs) to code execution, resolve technical issues in the Bridgely app, and oversee Bridgely’s external facing support for general users.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

AI-Driven Software Development: Write, test, refactor, and deploy clean, maintainable code using AI-assisted tools for feature enhancements, bug fixes, and minor upgrades across frontend and backend systems.

Draft Product Requirements Documents (PRDs): Scope and author clear, actionable PRDs for low-hanging fruit features, converting user feedback into defined technical requirements and acceptance criteria through the lens of Bridgely’s pillars, ensuring technical solutions center the needs of local ministry leaders and frontline communities over complex top-down systems.

Oversee Technical Support & Escalations: Serve as a technical bridge by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues within the Bridgely app, database, and API integrations.

Contractor & Technical Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Bridgely’s external tech development contractors - assisting with code reviews, aligning technical specs, and coordinating feature hand-offs.

Database & Infrastructure Support: Utilize SQL to query, update, and manage database schemas (Cloud SQL/GCP) while maintaining data integrity and PII/security standards.

Quality Assurance & Testing: Implement automated unit/integration test scripts with AI tools to maintain application stability, performance, and security.

Database management and strong command of SQL (complex querying, data updating, and database architecture)

Working knowledge of Node.js, REST APIs, and cloud services (Google Cloud Platform, Cloud SQL)

Git/GitHub workflows (PRs, code reviews) and third-party tools (Stripe, LogRocket, Firebase, Backblaze)

Ability to work independently on minor features, communicate effectively with external contractor teams, write clean documentation, and adapt quickly to new engineering tools

Collaborate with and guide external development contractors on specific feature builds and integration tasks
MANAGERIAL SCOPE: This position does not have supervisory responsibility or any direct reports.
EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience / bootcamp background

AI coding certification
EXPERIENCE:

Experience using AI tools for software development, support, rapid prototyping, bug detection, and automated test creation

Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and frameworks (React or React Native)

Proven experience in a technical support analyst or junior developer capacity with demonstrated mastery of application troubleshooting and SQL
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role is eligible for a 3/2 hybrid model with three days in-office weekly and up to two days remote. If selected for this role, it is expected that the candidate will be available to participate in all scheduled meetings and other collaborative activities across the organization, some of which will be in-person at the home office in Colorado Springs, CO. Office environment with variable sitting and standing. Light physical effort with occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs. Must be able to work on a computer, continually use a keyboard/mouse, and sit at a desk for long periods of time.
