Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Therapist to join our dynamic mental health and behavioral care team. In this vital role, you will provide evidence-based psychotherapy and clinical support to individuals and groups, guiding them through recovery and mental health improvement processes. Your expertise will help clients navigate complex emotional, behavioral, and psychological challenges, including co-occurring disorders, substance use issues, trauma, and mental health conditions. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive client assessments to determine mental health needs, including diagnostic evaluations using DSM-5 criteria and ICD coding standards.
- Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and applied behavior analysis.
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions focused on mental health counseling, addiction medicine, trauma recovery (including PTSD care), and behavioral health management.
- Perform crisis intervention and crisis management to ensure client safety during acute episodes or emergencies.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation adhering to medical documentation standards, HIPAA regulations, and electronic health records (EHR) management protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management efforts, discharge planning, and community or home-based care services.
- Conduct client communication with sensitivity to cultural backgrounds while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Skills
- Extensive experience in psychotherapy techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and group therapy facilitation.
- Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, trauma-related conditions such as PTSD, and addiction counseling methods.
- Proficiency in clinical assessment tools, diagnostic evaluation (DSM-5), ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and CPT coding for billing purposes.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as EMR/EHR platforms for documentation and data collection.
- Ability to manage crisis situations effectively through crisis intervention strategies and crisis management skills.
- Excellent communication skills for client engagement, case management coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to behavioral health care and experience working with diverse populations in community or hospital settings.
