Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary Music Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education and a commitment to fostering a love for music in students. This full-time position requires an individual who can inspire students through innovative teaching methods, cultivate their musical talents, and contribute to the overall music program.
Responsibilities
– Develop and implement engaging music curriculum for students in grades 9-12, covering various genres, techniques, and music theory.
– Conduct individual and group lessons in instrumental and vocal music, ensuring students receive personalized instruction.
– Organize and lead rehearsals for school ensembles, including choirs, bands, and orchestras.
– Prepare students for performances, competitions, and assessments, including concerts, recitals, and festivals.
– Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to enhance their musical skills.
– Collaborate with fellow educators to integrate music education into the broader school curriculum.
– Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.
– Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and music program events.
– Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in music education.
– Manage classroom resources, including instruments and technology, ensuring a safe and organized learning environment.
Requirements
– Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field;
– Valid teaching certification in music for secondary education.
– Proven experience in teaching music at the secondary level, with a strong understanding of various musical styles and techniques.
– Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments and/or vocal performance.
– Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
– Experience in directing ensembles and organizing music performances.
– Knowledge of music technology and software for educational purposes.
– Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
– A passion for music and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for all students.
