PREPRINT SUPERINTENDENT
Indianapolis, IN | $90,000 to $110,000 depending on experience
This role is on the converting side of paper manufacturing, with responsibility for the preprint department, the stage where stock is prepared ahead of printing and finishing. The Preprint Superintendent oversees production, quality, and safety in this department for a worldwide paper manufacturing company, with relocation assistance available.
Schedule
Full time, plant based, with regular and overtime scheduling as production demands require.
Compensation
$90,000 to $110,000 annually, depending on experience, plus bonus eligibility.
What You'll Do
The Preprint Superintendent manages process performance across safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement in the preprint department, supervising employees in the daily production of preprint products in a safe and efficient manner. This includes training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating employee performance, and promoting teamwork while resolving conflicts as they arise. The role champions EHS initiatives, ensuring safety and health procedures and federal and state OSHA requirements are followed, and maintains daily plant housekeeping standards through established procedures. The Preprint Superintendent also helps develop, implement, and audit standard operating methods across the print, finishing, and shipping departments to maintain product and service quality, stays engaged with plant personnel to resolve issues as they arise, and uses employee involvement and empowerment principles to build teamwork and optimize use of resources. Additional responsibilities include participating in the development of capital and project spending plans, and overseeing inventory control, stock level monitoring, and vendor coordination.
Required Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and technical knowledge relevant to paper converting or manufacturing operations
- Excellent planning, organizing, prioritizing, time management, and delegation skills
- Demonstrated ability to direct and motivate teams, build effective teams, and resolve conflict
- Strong problem solving and process management skills
- Ability to manage inventory control, stock levels, and vendor relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of supervisory experience in preprint manufacturing
- Bachelor's degree
