Job Summary
As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the welcoming face of our healthcare facility, ensuring that every patient feels valued and cared for from the moment they step through our doors. Your role is vital in managing the front desk operations, coordinating patient appointments, and maintaining accurate medical records. You will play a key part in facilitating smooth communication between patients and healthcare providers, all while adhering to HIPAA regulations and ensuring a positive patient experience.
What you’ll do
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with the check-in process to create a friendly atmosphere.
- Manage multi-line phone systems to answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and provide information about services offered.
- Verify insurance information and handle medical billing processes efficiently to ensure seamless transactions.
- Maintain electronic health records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including ADA codes, CPT coding and ICD-10 coding for proper billing.
- Collaborate with medical staff to coordinate care plans and facilitate communication regarding patient needs.
- Handle medical collections professionally while providing exceptional customer service to resolve any issues.
- Assist with clerical tasks such as filing, typing, and maintaining organized medical records to support office management.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is essential for success in this role.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and insurance verification processes will set you apart as a candidate.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply as this can enhance patient interactions.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office proficiency are necessary for effective documentation and communication.
- Excellent phone etiquette and typing skills are crucial for managing patient interactions efficiently.
- Experience in dental office management or hospital environments is a plus but not required.
