Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, Full-Time Oil & Gas Accountant to handle day-to-day financial operations within our energy portfolio. In this role, you will execute essential industry workflows including production reconciliation, joint venture billings, and revenue tracking. The ideal candidate has foundational experience in energy accounting, a strong grasp of petroleum accounting principles, and proficiency with industry-specific software.
Key Responsibilities
- Revenue & Production Accounting: Record monthly oil and gas sales, track volume allocations, and assist with processing royalty payments and distributions.
- Joint Interest Billing (JIB): Generate and process regular joint venture billings (JIB) and operational cost-sharing items among working interest partners.
- Tax & Regulatory Filings: Assist in compiling data for monthly state severance taxes and organizing information for corporate energy tax compliance.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Perform routine month-end close procedures, prepare journal entries, and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Fixed Assets & AFE: Track capital expenditures against Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs) and update fixed-asset depreciation schedules.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Experience: 2 to 4 years of dedicated oil and gas accounting experience (E&P upstream or midstream preferred).
- Technical Software: Experience using industry ERP software (e.g., WolfePak, OGsys, Bolo, or Excalibur) and intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with basic COPAS standards and general energy sector financial terminology.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
