Palm Install Crew Member
About the Role:
As a Palm Install Crew Member, your primary responsibility is to support the successful installation of palm trees at various locations. You will assist in the transportation of palm trees, preparation of installation sites, planting and backfilling of trees, and maintenance tasks to ensure their health and vitality. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Your contributions will directly impact the beauty and functionality of landscapes, enriching outdoor environments for clients and communities alike.
Responsibilities:
- Installation Assistance:
- Assist in the transportation of palm trees to job sites, ensuring they are securely loaded and unloaded from vehicles.
- Aid in the preparation of installation sites, including digging holes, removing debris, and preparing soil for planting.
- Assist with the proper positioning and placement of palm trees according to project specifications and design plans.
- Planting and Backfilling:
- Assist with the planting of palm trees, ensuring proper alignment and depth in accordance with established guidelines.
- Backfill soil around planted trees, tamping down soil to secure trees in place and promote stability.
- Support Equipment Operation:
- Assist in the operation of equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and hoists to facilitate the safe handling and installation of palm trees.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and report any maintenance or repair needs to supervisors promptly.
- Maintenance Assistance:
- Assist in the watering, fertilizing, and mulching of newly installed palm trees to support their health and growth.
- Aid in the pruning and trimming of palm trees to maintain aesthetics and promote vitality.
- Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with team members, including install leaders and fellow crew members, to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and project managers to report progress, discuss challenges, and seek guidance as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in landscaping, tree care, or outdoor labor preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions and outdoor environments.
- Willingness to work as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors and leaders.
- Basic knowledge of plant care and horticulture principles is desirable.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking.
- Exposure to temperatures: 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit, >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters and heavy machinery.
