We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Digital Press Operator to join our production team. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining digital printing equipment to produce high-quality printed products according to customer specifications and production schedules.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a commercial printing or manufacturing environment, strong mechanical and computer skills, and a solid understanding of digital printing, color management, substrates, and quality-control procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate digital printing presses according to job specifications and production schedules.
- Review job tickets, artwork specifications, quantities, substrates, colors, and finishing requirements before beginning production.
- Load paper, label stock, film, or other substrates, and ensure the correct materials are being used for each job.
- Set and monitor press parameters to maintain proper color, registration, image quality, and consistency.
- Perform color calibration and make adjustments as necessary to meet established quality standards.
- Inspect printed materials throughout production for defects, color shifts, registration issues, banding, streaking, and other quality concerns.
- Troubleshoot press, print-quality, material, and workflow issues to minimize downtime.
- Perform routine operator maintenance, cleaning, and preventive maintenance according to manufacturer and company procedures.
- Monitor inks, toner, substrates, and other press consumables and replenish materials as required.
- Maintain accurate production records, including quantities produced, waste, downtime, and quality information.
- Coordinate with prepress, finishing, quality, and production personnel to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Verify completed jobs meet customer specifications before releasing materials to the next stage of production.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures.
- Assist with other production or finishing duties as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1–3 years of digital printing or commercial press experience preferred.
- Experience operating HP Indigo 6900 and 25K preferred.
- Knowledge of digital printing processes, substrates, inks/toners, and color management.
- Understanding of registration, color consistency, print defects, and quality-control standards.
- Experience with RIP software, digital print workflows, or production management systems is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Good computer skills and ability to learn press and workflow software.
- Ability to read and understand job tickets, production specifications, measurements, and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to prioritize multiple jobs in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable attendance and ability to work overtime when production needs require it.
