Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards in literacy, math, science, social studies, and other subjects.
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect.
- Utilize learning technology tools to enhance instruction and accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparations.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively using proactive behavior management strategies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
- Provide individualized support and tutoring to students who need extra help, including those with special education needs or autism spectrum disorder.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff to develop tailored educational plans and monitor student development.
- Incorporate early childhood education principles and Montessori methods where appropriate to enrich the learning experience.
- Mentor new teachers or teaching assistants, sharing best practices in classroom management and lesson planning.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, literacy education, math instruction, and teaching physical education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; advanced certifications preferred.
- Valid teaching license or certification for elementary education at the 4th-grade level.
- Proven classroom experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Strong communication skills to effectively connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and assessment strategies.
- Experience with learning technology platforms and digital instructional tools.
- Familiarity with special education practices, behavior management techniques, and working with children with autism or other developmental needs.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods for diverse learners including early intervention strategies.
- Demonstrated organizational skills for managing classroom activities and documentation efficiently.
- Passion for fostering literacy, numeracy skills, physical education, library services, and overall childhood development.
