Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and vehicles transporting hazardous materials (hazmat) in compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Plan and follow optimal routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure on-time deliveries across over-the-road (OTR) routes
- Load, secure, and unload freight with manual handling techniques while adhering to safety protocols for truck loading and unloading procedures
- Transport automobile parts or other cargo efficiently while ensuring the integrity of hazardous or dangerous goods during transit
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and compliance records in accordance with logistics cargo handling standards
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, perform basic maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route adjustments, or unforeseen delays
Qualifications
- Valid CDL A license with clean driving record; experience with manual transmission trucks preferred
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving in various environments
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, and hazardous materials regulations (hazmat) certification is a plus
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for dangerous goods transportation
- Ability to handle manual handling tasks safely during load & unload operations while maintaining proper safety procedures
- Strong navigation skills utilizing GPS systems for efficient route planning on OTR routes
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, punctuality, and customer service
