American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical position at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital in Roanoke, VA, with Epic experience and night shift availability required.

Medical/Surgical unit within a large, acute care academic teaching hospital
-
Adult acute care patient population including post-operative elective back surgeries, trauma, prostate cancer, gallbladder, and cellulitis cases
-
Patient ratio of 1:6
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12s, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
-
Must work one holiday per 13-week contract

Floating required within skillset
-
Epic EMR experience required
-
RN may be required to work in a charge nurse or preceptor capacity
-
Active VA state RN license or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state

Current BLS certification required

Proficiency in Med/Surg nursing care with experience working alongside Rapid Response and Code teams
-
Skilled in peripheral line care and management, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and isolation precautions

Two professional references required for consideration

Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
