Empire State Bank is looking for a part-time experienced Service Associate (Universal Banker) to join our team. This position will float between our banking centers located in Staten Island. The Service Associate position is an all-encompassing role which requires the associate to deliver exceptional sales solutions, service, and transactions to all customers. In addition to opening new accounts and maintaining existing accounts, the Service Associate will engage in needs-based sales and service solution activities and contribute directly to the success of the Banking Center by recognizing and uncovering new opportunities. Essential Duties
- Proactively greet and engage with customers as they enter the banking center (branch).
- Utilize needs-based sales techniques to uncover customer needs and match to the appropriate Bank products and services; sell a full range of consumer and business products and services to develop and deepen existing customer/prospect relationships while meeting or exceeding established goals to support the overall sales objectives.
- Gain in-depth knowledge of the different banking channels, such as online banking, mobile banking, remote deposit capture and ATMs, and encourage customers to utilize such channels to enhance their service experience.
- Handle a variety of financial transactions accurately and efficiently, including cashing checks, processing checking and savings withdrawals and deposits, accepting and processing wire transfer requests, and balancing duties, etc.
- Market a full range of consumer and small business banking services to existing and prospective customers through proactive techniques such as lobby leadership, outbound marketing calls, marketing campaigns, or in banking center events.
- Ability to learn Empire State Bank's products and services and uses knowledge to identify other cross-sell opportunities and refer existing customers and prospects to Relationship Managers and/or other departments.
- Open new consumer and business deposit accounts accurately and efficiently; resolves a variety of simple to complex customer maintenance requests and inquiries (i.e., address changes, stop payments, check orders, etc.).
- Participate in telemarketing and other banking center calling and marketing initiatives.
- Effectively utilize available resources for problem resolution, which may involve analysis of information received from other Bank departments, such as Lending, Deposit Operations and Branch Administration.
- Provide flexibility of coverage during banking center hours of operation and at other banking centers within the market as needed.
- Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal Bank policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank’s compliance with all Federal and State regulatory requirements.
- Abide by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
- Perform other duties as assigned, i.e., assist with training colleagues as needed.
- May require traveling to different branches/locations for fill-in.
Education/Training/Experience
At least 1-2 years of banking experience required. High School Diploma or GED required.

Physical Abilities
The physical requirements are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A Banking Center Service Associate is required to have manual dexterity and routinely uses standard office equipment which includes, but is not limited to, computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.
1. Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods.
2. Must be able to lift boxes up to up to 30 lbs.
3. Must be able to travel between branch/customer locations.
