Qualifications
- Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a childcare or institutional setting
- Knowledge of CACFP guidelines and compliance
- Culinary skills in preparing a variety of meals for children
- Understanding of child nutrition and dietary restrictions
- Ability to follow recipes and menu plans accurately
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Certification in food safety and sanitation is preferred
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve balanced meals and snacks for children in accordance with CACFP guidelines
- Plan and develop weekly menus that cater to children's dietary needs and preferences
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment in compliance with health regulations
- Monitor food inventory and order supplies as needed to ensure the availability of ingredients
- Collaborate with staff to accommodate special dietary requirements and allergies
- Educate children about healthy food choices and the importance of nutrition
- Maintain accurate records of food production and waste to ensure efficient meal planning
- Provide a warm and welcoming environment during mealtimes
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities as required
- Assist with kitchen-related tasks, including dishwashing and cleaning duties, as needed
